Compassion, Love, Happiness, Peace.
I'm sure by now, since it's 2015 and all, that you've heard the term "Vegan" once or twice before. I'm going to assume that hearing the word "Vegan" makes you turn up your nose and cringe if your like most people on the planet and are misinformed. I'm going to give you a quick run through about Veganism from what i've learned in the short three weeks that I've become a Vegan. I decided officially to become a Vegan on February 28th 2015. So, as of today I've been living the Vegan life for 24 days, and I can 100% inform you that I do not regret it. Since I'm still a newbie Vegan I'm still in the process of learning, but I can supply you with a fresh perspective as to why I've become a vegan and why I believe this relates to the overall topic of my blog! Keep reading!
Okay so lets get to the basics about Veganism. A vegan does not consume, or use any type of animal product. Yup that means NO meat, NO dairy, NO eggs, and especially NO cheese (sorry folks). But WHY you might ask do we not eat the tastiest things on the planet?! Well basically "being vegan means one thing to me: an attempt to reduce the intense suffering of non-human animals. To me: saying "I'm vegan" is synonymous with saying, "I have decided to live a lifestyle that does not support animal exploitation." Basically being a vegan means you CARE about animals, plain and simple. I'm sorry everyone but I need to be honest with you if you care about animals you shouldn't eat them. When you truly care about the cruelty that animals go through during their "life" in a factory farm you don't want to eat them. It's just not fair. When you truly care you go vegan, because you join forces will a group of people that are going to stop cruelty.
About a year ago, I came across a Facebook page about a cute pig named Esther. I didn't know it at the time but Esther led me on the path to become a Vegan. When I started following her on Facebook I realized how amazing pigs really were. And as the days went on an I'd wake up to her cute smiling pink face and see the love that her dads poured on her I realized I wanted to be an owner of a pig in the future! Since than my obsession with pigs has skyrocketed. I think they are just the most intelligent and funny creatures out there and I would be honoured to have one in my life. Since I realized that having a pig did not coincie with eating pork or bacon I decided I had to stop eating pork. Which was the first step to becoming vegan (but i didn't know it at the time). You can check her out here @ https://www.facebook.com/estherthewonderpig! And also watch the first video that will make you understand why animals should not be eaten.
Below I've posted the two BEST videos I believe are out there that might change your mind about your current lifestyle. I'd recommend trying to watching "Earthlings" first, I'll be honest I've only watched about 30minutes of the video because I automatically decided I was going Vegan after 15 minutes. The second video I just watched a few days ago. Gary Yourofsky is an animal activist and an incredible human being. He is brutally honest in his speeches which makes you have to respect what he has to tell you. He offers you why becoming a Vegan is necessary and will also challenge every single one of your arguments against going Vegan. He has been banned in 5 countries across the world because of his experience in animal liberation that has cost many countries millions of dollars (Canada). Gary also explains how easy it is to become a Vegan, which will once again challenge all of your excuses against it. Both these videos are essential to watch in order to be educated about the food you eat. Everyone is entitled to the right to education about where their food is coming from and the cruelty you are causing by supporting these places. I'll I'm asking you to do is STOP turning a blind eye and covering your ears when you hear about Veganism. We are only promoting it for the rights of animals just as any caring and compassionate human would do. Most people are not Vegan because they choose not to be educated because they feel it's better to just not know. What type of life is that? Always hiding in the darkness and ignoring everything that is happening around you? Just watch the videos. They will do way more to your than I can ever say in a single blog post!
